Rakuten's Largest Interactive Event Transforms into Rakuten AI Optimism: A New Focus on AI Innovation in Japan and Beyond

- Transforming into a dedicated AI business conference and exhibition

Tokyo, June 2, 2025 – Rakuten Group, Inc. today announced a major transformation of its largest interactive event, now named Rakuten AI Optimism, held as a free, on-site event at Pacifico Yokohama over three days, from Wednesday, July 30 to Friday, August 1, 2025.

Rakuten is driving "AI-nization" – a term it has coined to describe the AI-driven transformation of its operations and services – with the goal of empowering customers and businesses with AI and making its benefits accessible to everyone. Now in its sixth year, Rakuten Optimism is transforming into a business event focused on AI, offering new value and insights. Registration for the free three-day business conference opens today*1, and the latest information on speakers and details for the business conference are now available via the official website*2.

Rakuten Optimism has attracted approximately 800,000 attendees to date, making it Rakuten’s largest annual event*3. This year, under the banner of "Empowering the Future," the event has evolved into a business-focused gathering where attendees, from next-generation innovators to veteran business leaders, can learn from those at the forefront of AI transformation.

This year’s event will feature insightful talks and panel discussions on various themes centered around AI, as well as an exhibition area showcasing cutting-edge technologies and AI-driven solutions for business challenges. Speakers will include Rakuten leaders and industry experts from around the world, including Rakuten Group Chairman and CEO Mickey Mikitani, who will deliver a keynote address, Kashiwa Sato, Creative Director of Samurai, Miyoko Nakashima, Market Strategist and Vice President of Mizuho Securities, Jun Murai, Keio University professor, and more. All sessions and panel discussions will be accompanied by English and Japanese AI-powered subtitles*4
